Jim Carrey's BRUCE ALMIGHTY Is Getting A Sequel Treatment!

BRUCE ALMIGHTY (2003) was one of Jim Carrey's biggest hits in his career, with a whopping $484.5 million in worldwide box-office grosses. Universal Pictures had previously attempted to make a follow-up, with the Jim Carrey-less comedy dud, EVAN ALMIGHTY (2007), which winded up starring Steve Carell. That movie cost an incredible $175 million to make, but ended up flopped so badly at the box-office.

Now Universal isn't about to give up the franchise yet, as the studio has hired Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (YES MAN, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE) to pen a sequel to BRUCE ALMIGHTY. Yes, you read that right -- it has nothing to do with EVAN ALMIGHTY whatsoever. After all, the sequel will be written to get Jim Carrey returning for the second time. Hmm... I really hope Jim Carrey will agree for the sequel since he's been desperately looking for hit to rejuvenate his dying career these days.
