Pakistani actress Veena Malik, set to sizzle in the Kannada version of hit Bollywood movie "The Dirty Picture", aims to go a step ahead of Vidya Balan's act in the original. She maintains the two movies are different.
"I have not seen the 'The Dirty Picture' in Hindi, though I have heard that Vidya Balan has delivered an overwhelming performance in the film. But I really want to go one step ahead in my performance in this film," told Veena.
The actress, who rose to fame in India after her stint in controversial reality show "Bigg Boss 4", says it is unfair to compare the two movies.
"Please don't compare the Bollywood film with the Kannada film that I am doing now," told Veena.
This is her first Kannada movie, and she is confident it will be appreciated.
"My first Kannada film has a good package of entertainment and sentimental scenes. I'm sure I will entertain the audience with my performance and at the same time they would also feel sorry for the trials that my character undergoes in the film. I will win the hearts of Kannadigas through this performance. I like the role," she further added.
Veena said she can relate to her role in the film, adding: "This is a different story and it connects well with all the struggling young women who want to make it big in their respective fields.
"I was moved after hearing the story as there were many incidents which remembered incidents that happened in my life albeit in a different fashion."
The actress is even more thrilled as she has wrapped a "sexy" and "stylish" photo shoot for the film, insisting it will present her in Marilyn Monroe style.
She told the photo shoot, done by photographer Suresh, was sexy, stylish, hot, raunchy, naughty and visually-captivating.
The film's lead actor Akshay had also participated in the photo shoot. The film is produced by Venkateappa, while writer and director Thrishool is wielding the megaphone for it.
Veena hopes she is also offered good roles in other regional film industries down south.

The new version will have Prakash Mehra's son Amit, collaborating with with Reliance Entertainment for the remake. The film's cast and crew are yet to be finalised, though PC has already been approached to enter Jaya Bachchan's shoes.
The remake will have Priyanka Chopra play a feisty NRI cafe owner.
Amitabh Bachchan's role will be take over by South star Ram Charan Teja. Buzz also has it that Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will be a part of the film, essaying pivotal roles.
The film's shoot will begin in April. Apoorva Lakhia will direct the remake of Zanjeer.
Actress Katrina Kaif, who is back in town from London after wrapping up a shooting schedule of Yash Chopra's directorial venture, says she is in awe of the veteran filmmaker's immensely sharp working style.
"You know Yash ji is very senior and everyone used to say how young he is at heart. But you have to look at how sharp he is," Katrina told reporters here.
"He used to pick up these very small things… like if something was disturbing me or I was not in a good mood, he used to just pick it up and know how to deal with it. So I think he is a very special person and we had an amazing time," she added.
Katrina was in London to work on Chopra's yet-to-be-titled love story opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
This is her first project with King Khan, and this is also the first time she is being directed by Chopra, whose last venture behind the camera was "Veer Zaara" in 2004.
Katrina, 27, spoke on the sidelines of the launch of a book based on her film "Raajneeti", which presented her in a non-glamourous avatar and in a powerful role.
She didn't miss the chance to share sweet somethings about her "Raajneeti" director Prakash Jha too.
"One thing I can say about Prakash ji is that with all his knowledge and with all his intellect, he is an extremely intelligent person and extremely knowledgeable…
"… especially on the subjects that he directs… (they) are often very complex subjects, but never for once does he make you feel that you are slightly inferior in anyway to the knowledge of politics or his knowledge of literature," said Katrina.
Last seen in "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan", Katrina is also working with her former beau, actor Salman Khan in "Ek Tha Tiger".

After Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan, it is the turn of John Abraham. Yes! His latest movie Force, which has hit the screens today, is remake of Tamil hit movie Kaakha Kaakha, which starred Suriya and Jyothika. The film has heavily borrowed Masala elements from movies of 1970s and 80s. It is a treat for action lovers.
Force is an action-cum-love story and John Abraham's rocking performance is the major highlight of the movie. Romance, loads of action, treachery an revenge are other plus points of the movie. But it suffers from clichéd and predictable plotline. Force might forcibly make you like it in some sequences.
Despite having some dragging moments, the first half of the film engages the audiences, but the real essence of Force comes in the second half. What make the movie work are its sharp and punch dialogues and real-raw action scenes. Director Nishikant Kamat has really managed to hold the attention of the viewers with his sound technical knowledge.
Yashvardhan (John Abraham) is a hard-headed senior narcotics officer, who always ensures that justice is served. In his mission to crack down on India's drug cartels, he encounters a ruthless enemy, who will stop at nothing until he gets his revenge for the damage done to his business by the narcotics team. Meanwhile, he falls in love with free-spirited Maya (Genelia), who forces him to choose between his professional life and her love life. What happens next will form the climax of the film.
John Abraham is a perfect choice for the male lead and he has delivered an outstanding performance. His chiseled body well suits the role of a young and self-confident Narcotics Officer. He rocks movie goers in action and dialogue delivery. Genelia has got lot of scope for performance in the film and she has used it to prove that she is not under-rated actress. The on-screen chemistry between John and Genelia is a treat. Vidyut Jammwal suits well for the villain role opposite John and has given a good performance. Others like Mohnish Bahl, Sandhya Mridul, Amit Gaurr, Kamlesh Sawant, Mukesh Rishi, Raj Babbar have done justice to their respective roles.
Force has superb production values and Allan Amin's choreographed stunts are the major attraction of them. Secondly, Harris Jayaraj's music is also the highlight of the movie and Nishikant has integrated the songs very well in it. Ayananka Bose's picturisation is a visual treat. Editing, art direction, costumes and the selection of the locations are also commendable.
In a nutshell, Force might be a remake movie, but it completely engages the audience with its story. It is really a treat for action lovers.

Director: Nishikanth Kamath
Cast: John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Vidyut Jamwal, Mohnish Bahl, Raj Babbar, Sandhya Mridul, Amit Gaurr, Kamlesh Sawant, Mukesh Rishi

'Kidnap' actress Minissha Lamba refused to walk the ramp in a bikini for her new flick, 'Hum Tum Shabana'. She admits that there was a scene in the movie where she requires walking the ramp in a bikini but she turned down.
In the movie, she is playing a model. Speaking about the bikini scene, the actress said, "I put my foot down and didn't wear a bikini in the film. A scene was planned likewise but I refused to do it". Talking about her character, she said: "She is a part of a beauty pageant. She is the most unlikely contestant to be in a beauty pageant. She doesn't fit the criteria of someone who can be a model. She doesn't win the pageant, of course. What drama exudes after that is the high point of the film."
The film also stars Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor. The two guys were seen wooing Minissha.

Priyanka Chopra was recently asked to gyrate to a dance number for Saif Ali Khan's home production Agent Vinod, but the actress turned down the offer.
According to source, "Dinesh Vijan, the co-owner of Illuminati Films the production house has met up with Priyanka in London and offered her the item number. Priyanka is not too keen to take up the offer. While miracles can happen anytime in Bollywood, the chances of Priyanka changing her mind over this dance number are extremely remote."
However, PC's decision to turn down the offer did not come as a surprise to many, considering the on-off rivalery between the lead actress of Agent Vinod, Kareena Kapoor and PC.
Seems like Piggy Chops has limited herself to item numbers only for her dear friend SRK.
However, director Sriram Raghavan denies having asked Priyanka for an item number. He said, "We have no typical item number in the film. We have songs that take the movie forward."

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have finally put all the speculation about their break-up at rest by declaring their marriage. The couple is keen to tie the knot by next year. Marriage was always in their mind but they did not go for it due to their respective careers but not the duo has seen that marriage will not hamper their career and hence they are eager to walk down the aisle.
"Saif is absolutely comfortable with Kareena's family. Kareena has also finally found a comfort level with Saif's children. This was the biggest stumbling block in the marriage," says a source.
Says Kareena's close friend, "Saif has been keen to marry Bebo for ages now. He wanted to make it official soon after he met and fell in love with her. But the couple agreed that such an early marriage would affect her career negatively. But Kareena is now at a stage where her marital status would make no difference to her career."
There has been no rift between Saif and Bebo and the wrong rumor has hurt both of them. Says Kareena's close friend, "Bebo told us that there can never be any issues between them because they are devoted to building a life together. Whether people like it or not, Bebo and Saif are in this relationship for keeps."
Well, another big fat Bollywood wedding is coming up.
Starring: Ajay Devgn, Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj
Direction: Rohit Shetty
Music: Ajay-Atul
Production: Reliance Entertainment
The Golmaal buds are back to do what they do best, loads of dishoom dishoom, cars flying all over and Ajay Devgn projected as the super hero full filmi style in the Reliance Entertainment produced 'Singham'. Apart from the fact that Ajay and Rohit started their filmi career together in an action film Phool aur Khaante as Actor and assistant director respectively, their first movie together as actor – director was also an action film Zameen but then Golmaal happened and the rest as they say is history. Add in the above average 'All the Best' too then the duo's comedy film repertoire looks as envious as David Dhawan and Govinda's partnership. But this is not a comedy film but the craze of remaking southern masala blockbusters in Hindi has caught the duo's attention too and once again its time for Ajay to flex some muscles. Why not? after the stupendous Gajini, Wanted, Ready and rich southern flavoured 'Dabaang' who would say no to the Tamil blockbuster 'Singam'?
The story is about a small town honest cop Bhajirao Singham(Ajay Devgn) pulled into the big city by a king pin, Jayakant Shikre(Prakash Raj) to show him his political power. With corruption strangulating the existence of Singham and Jayakant Shikre slowly getting more powerful than ever, Singham has to not just use his brawn but brains too to defeat the enemy. But can he do it?
The original Singham did get much recommendation from critics but became a blockbuster thanks mainly to the producers heavy marketing, Surya's star status and some very nicely thought out scenes. The remake takes all the positives from the original and adds few maratha flavour and Singham is all set to roar heavily in bollywood too. But that doesn't mean Singham is all green, it does get monotonous and slow by the mid second half and Rohit also tries a different climax from the original which heavily depends on Prakash Raj's performance, he does succeed but somehow the end just looks like a rushed up job. Not entirely convincing. But that was one of the negative pointers of the original too. There are few scenes where southern flavor just gets too heavy especially the fight sequences but single screen audiences are just going to embrace it with hoots and cheers.
Ajay Devgn has enacted the role with sincerity but looks too tired in many sequences and the power packed scene where the hero challenges the villain in his own lair which was one of the most talked about scene in the original, looks just plain mediocre thanks to the dull recital of the fiery dialogue by Ajay and the support staff's clueless acting. Kajal looks fresh as ever and looks completely at ease with mouthing Hindi language but has little to do acting wise. Prakash Raj seems to have finally captured bollywood too with his menacing performance. The master looks convincing as a Maharashtrian and carries the film effortlessly. Sonali Kulkarni is decent but her character could have been a little less confusing. Sachin Khedekar's character does make you smile but is under utilized. The rest of the talents have done a decent job but nothing extraordinary to brag about.
Cinematography by Dudley is decent but the fake night scenes with artificial flares to light up the character's face is a bad move. Editing by Steven H Bernard, is slick but could have been more brutal in the end. Art Direction by Narendra Rahurikar, is decent but far from realistic, the police lock up with two big windows is a big blunder. Music by Ajay and Atul is decent but none of the songs actually sticks on to you expect 'Maula mere'. Choreography by Ganesh Achariya is not upto the mark and the step he has given Ajay in the first song is just too mediocre to be true. Amar Mohile's background score enriches the visual drama. The action scenes designed by Rohit Shetty and executed by Jai Singh is a treat for action lovers. The 'Red' inspired action scene where Ajay walks out from the swirling car with his gun out brings the whole theatre down.
Overall its a paisa vasool entertainer which has action aplenty and is a sure-shot success in the single screens but with Zindagi and Delhi still bringing in the crowd it would be quite interesting to see how Multiplex audience welcomes this Singham.
What i say: A decent dish with Southern spices added a bit too much
Direction: Rohit Shetty
Music: Ajay-Atul
Production: Reliance Entertainment

Katrina is not completely out of Salman's……film. Well, it's Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor's forthcoming movie 'Body Guard', which have been in news for some time now.
Our birdies found out from sources that British hot beauty and Salman's ex, Katrina Kaif will also feature in the most awaited movie. But let us tell you it's not for a full length role. In fact the actress will only be seen in a blink-and-miss role.
Salman who plays the title role is said to be bodyguard for Katrina, who will appear for a scene in the movie as herself. Yeah, so that means one can look forward to see this ex-couple, Salman and Kat, together on the screen.
Hmm already they are doing YRF's movie 'Ek Tha Tiger', but before that with 'Bodyguard' looks like one can have a teaser of the two together.
'Body Guard' is produced by Salman's sister Alvira and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and is being directed by Siddique who directed the original, Malayalam version. The movie is expected to release some time during the festival season of Eid-Ganesh Chathurthi.
