"Universal" Is Developing WOODY WOODPECKER Movie!

That famous laugh is back! And I'm talking none others than the once-popular animated series, WOODY WOODPECKER! Universal-based Illumination Entertainment is now eyeing possibility to develop a feature-length project on the famous cartoon character.

WOODY WOODPECKER was a classic animated series, which first appeared as a short way back in 1940. It was co-created by cartoonist Walter Lantz and voice, in his initial outings, by Mel Blanc, the future voice of Bugs Bunny. At the beginning, the character was noisy and brash type which became a huge hit during World War II-era America. However, WOODY WOODPECKER went mellowed once the series entered into the '50s with additional love interest and a recurring nemesis Ben Buzzard. A theme song was introduced in 1947 and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Song, the only song from a short movie ever to be nominated in the prestigious category. In the meantime, check out the theme song video below in case you forgot how it sounds like!
