Last time when the popular MORTAL KOMBAT video game were adapted to big screen adventures, the result were the 1995's MORTAL KOMBAT and the ill-fated 1997's sequel, MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION. Then along came director Kevin Tancharoen who finally resurrected the long-forgotten franchise into a whole new lease of life. The result was the well-received, 10 episodes web series which debuted on YouTube earlier this year. Since then, it has been heavily speculated that a new big screen version might be in works one day.
And now it has reported that New Line will officially rebooting the MORTAL KOMBAT franchise with a new movie. Tancharoen is set to direct the movie, but no actors are currently attached and the movie won't be related to the web series.
